Valle is the newest private hospital on the island. It has all the
latest technology, with well trained doctors to provide specialized
services. Entering the main door - to your left is the ER Dept, X-Ray
and Lab. Straight ahead is the MRI room, ICU and Inpatient
areas.
And to your right takes you to the doctor's offices and a snack/gift
shop. There is an elevator, or stairs if you prefer, to take you to the
upper levels of offices.
Outside the main entrance is a small coffee/snack shop, which is open later than the main indoor shop. And the Espartano Taxi line is always ready and waiting when someone needs a taxi. The courtyard is situated in the center of the hospital and can be entered from all sides. It is very beautiful and a pleasant place if you have to wait for any reason. At one end of the courtyard is the cafeteria, which serves snacks, coffee, juices, breakfast items, and delicous meals. Several of my friends have been inpatients here. They received excellent care. One of them had a major heart attack several years ago, and we were told that she had the best cardiologist available. She is doing very well to this day. Valle is one of the leading hospitals on the island. I spoke with the
gentleman in charge of Admissions, who gave me a guided tour. Of
course, we could not enter the area with the babies, but it was clearly
visable once they pulled the curtain back. He told me they have 5 beds, and are equipped with everything necessary to handle premature babies. I specifically asked about ventilation equipment and chest tubes, since I know that premature babies are susceptable to RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome) He reassured me they are well equipped, and have a Neonatologist on call 24/7. You can come in to the Emergency Department, or if you have an obstetrician he/she can refer you to them. They take payment in the form of Bolivares, Dollars, Euros, and all major credit/debit cards except American Express. He also told me that if you have health insurance in your home country they have a doctor who specializes in International insurances to help you file your claim. |

MEDICO MANEIRO Maneiro St and Monagas St, Sector Cruz de la Mision Porlamar - Margarita Island Telephone: (0295)274.41.11/274.54.32 Update: Aug. 2010 I recently found out from a friend of mine that her OB doctor had recommended this facility for her delivery. He said it is clean, the staff is well qualified and good to work with, and the costs are reasonable. He told her he has delivered many babies there. He said there are two main drawbacks. One is their lack of specialized equipment and supplies should she need a c-section, or the baby need specialized attention. The other is that it is in an un-safe part of town and no secure parking. My friend opted for a 'home' birth with her doctor in attendance, but due to complication had to have a c-section and was admitted to a larger clinic. Now, I also learned from this same friend that a friend of hers went to this clinic with severe pain. He had a really bad case of kidney stones. She stated that he felt he was treated well and the doctor was really good. |
